How does this technique work? This sleep hack is fairly straightforward, first you need to relax your facial muscles, including your tongue and jaw. Then, drop your shoulders as far down as they’ll go, as well as your arms and elbows, one arm at a time. After this, you should relax your chest and legs. Finally, spend 10 seconds clearing your mind, thinking about one of the following images: a canoe in a calm lake with nothing but a clear blue sky above you, or you’re lying in a black velvet hammock in a pitch black room or you say “don’t think” to yourself over and over again for 10 seconds.
Does this sleep hack actually work? It depends who you ask. In the comment section, one user writes “I tried to do this ngl I’m actually kind of tired now”, with another chiming in that it “didn’t work”. How does this sleep hack work? First, position your body on its side, then place a pillow under your head for optimised neck support. Then, for increased back support, place a pillow under the side of your back. For greater arm support, place a pillow sideways on top of the head pillow so that the back of your arm can rest on the pillow. To support your chest, place a pillow against your chest and wrap your arms around it in a hugging position. Finally, for increased pelvis support, place a pillow between both your legs.
The video was created by Root Cause Medical Clinic, a health clinic with a team of certified doctors from several different disciplines. Check out the video and see for yourself how the power of pillows can optimise your sleeping posture and reduce lower back pain.
5. Lettuce Water – 1.4 Million Likes
In this TikTok, the influencer by the user name of @shapla_11, tries out the viral lettuce water trend which has taken TikTok by storm. In the video, she washes some lettuce and then places it in a mug with a bag of peppermint tea, before boiling it in water and drinking it. After time has passed, the user then claims she’s feeling “slightly drowsy” and sleepy. In a follow-up video the next morning, she claimed it took her aeound “30 to 40 minutes” to fall asleep.
Is there any truth to this claim? Yes and no. Despite this TikTok trend’s popularity, this video is somewhat misleading. Studies have shown that though lettuce does in fact contain sleep-promoting compounds (lacturium), it’s extremely unlikely that you’d feel sleepy after a cup of 4 to 5 lettuce leaves.
However, despite this, many within the comments section seem keen to try this unusual sleep hack, with one user commenting “I have terrible insomnia, so imma try this out ASAPPP”. Why not check out this sleep hack for yourself?
